Virgin Media has unveiled a new entertainment upgrade for its TV platform, offering customers three bonus channels at no extra cost. The addition of Rakuten’s Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channels brings a variety of content including drama, comedy, and sci-fi to viewers’ screens.
The new channels include Rakuten TV Drama on Ch462, showcasing popular movies like The Big Short and Gosford Park. Rakuten TV Comedy on Ch463 features films such as Big Momma’s House and The Internship, providing viewers with beloved comedies. Additionally, Rakuten TV: Sci Fi on Ch464 offers a selection of content from otherworldly realms.
Customers with Virgin TV 360 and Flex will automatically receive the upgrade, with no action required on their part. The channels are easily accessible through Virgin Media’s TV guide and can be found using voice control.
David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, expressed excitement about the new streaming channels, emphasizing the added value they bring to customers. With this enhancement, Virgin TV customers now have access to a total of 40 FAST channels, enriching their viewing experience.
While Virgin Media TV requires a subscription fee, the expanded channel lineup offers a broader range of content compared to free services. This latest upgrade aims to provide customers with a diverse selection of entertainment options, consolidating content from Rakuten TV into a single platform.
