A trainer overseeing just a pair of horses achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. Despite strong competition from top stables like Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as the presence of 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle fourth-placer Rocky’s Diamond, Connor King emerged victorious with Oscars Brother, expertly ridden by his brother Daniel. Maintaining a front-running position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, delivered a commanding performance, crossing the finish line three lengths ahead of De Bromhead’s Koktail Divin.
Having prepared for the three-mile race on challenging ground at Galway, Oscars Brother now aims for Grade One success under the care of the King brothers, who have just one other horse in training at their yard. Reflecting on the win, Daniel expressed his joy at riding a quality horse trained by his brother, emphasizing the horse’s potential for further success. Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey himself, mentioned the possibility of entering Oscars Brother in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas period, highlighting the horse’s promising transition to chasing from hurdling. The duo remains optimistic about the future, with Connor reminiscing about the race’s competitiveness and expressing their aspirations for Oscars Brother’s continued development.
