Armed police responded to reports of a young individual carrying a knife at two schools in Plymouth, Devon. Witnesses observed the presence of riot police at both Shakespeare Primary School and All Saints Academy in Honicknowle, with pupils instructed to stay on the premises.
According to a spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police, officers were alerted to a possible knife incident in the Honicknowle area of Plymouth at 10:50 am. Armed officers, along with local police units, conducted investigations in the area, although no significant findings were reported at the time.
All Saints Academy assured parents that a scheduled parents’ evening would proceed as planned, with an increased police presence expected in the vicinity as investigations continued. The school day continued without disruption, and students were set to leave at the usual time of 2:10 pm.
In a statement to families, the school acknowledged the police presence on-site for safety reasons and appreciated the thorough measures taken by law enforcement. Although police have left the premises, a continued police presence in the area was noted as a precaution.
