Footage captured the moment three young boys fell from a double-decker bus window in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan. Emergency services responded to the incident on Bolton Road, triggering an investigation.
The boys, aged 13 and 14, are currently hospitalized but are reportedly not facing life-threatening injuries after the fall. Police initially reported that the trio had been leaning against the bus window during an emergency stop.
A video clip of the incident has surfaced, showcasing the boys falling as the bus remained stationary on the road. Following their plunge, bystanders on the street and a silver car cautiously navigated around the fallen boys.
Greater Manchester Police updated the public, confirming the ongoing hospitalization of the children but assuring that their conditions are stable. The incident occurred at approximately 3:50 pm on Bolton Road.
The three boys attended St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School nearby. The school’s headteacher, Mark Dumican, disclosed that the school is in contact with the boys and providing support to their families.
Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, indicated that the fall seemed to be related to a commotion on the bus’s upper deck. He expressed concern for the youngsters and their families, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident.
Alison Chew, TfGM’s Interim Network Director for Bus, expressed deep concern over the event and emphasized the importance of passenger and staff safety on the Bee Network. Vision Bus, based in Bolton, reiterated their commitment to passenger safety and cooperation with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
