An investigation into the death of Renee Good, a mother, determined which of the three gunshots fired by an ICE officer in Minneapolis was fatal.

Renee’s family commissioned the autopsy, which revealed that she was shot in the left forearm and then in the breast, with neither wound affecting any major organs. However, these injuries were not life-threatening.

The third gunshot entered Renee’s head near the temple and exited on the right side, causing a graze wound, as reported by the family’s legal representatives. The autopsy was conducted by an independent medical pathologist of high repute, according to the family’s attorneys.

Attorney Antonio M. Romanucci, known for representing George Floyd’s family, stated, “We have confidence that the evidence we are collecting and will continue to gather during our investigation will support our case.”

“The video footage of the events on January 7, 2026, is clear, especially when assessed based on reasonable policing standards and the overall circumstances,” added Romanucci. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office is yet to release its autopsy report on the January 7 incident.

Renee, aged 37, was shot while seated in her SUV during an encounter involving ICE agent Jonathan Ross. Ross had a mobile phone and recorded Renee and her partner before positioning himself in front of their vehicle.

Another ICE agent instructed Renee to exit the SUV, leading her to drive the vehicle forward. Video evidence suggested that Renee was attempting to avoid Ross, with conflicting accounts regarding whether she hit him with the car.

After the shooting, Ross was heard making derogatory remarks before Renee’s SUV collided with parked cars. The incident has sparked a divisive reaction among Americans, with conservatives defending Ross’s actions and liberals condemning the shooting.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Renee as a “domestic terrorist” without providing any substantiating evidence, alleging that Ross acted in self-defense.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized federal officials and demanded that ICE leave the city of Minnesota. An FBI investigation is currently underway regarding the shooting.
