Rumors are circulating about a potential increase in Income Tax that may be announced in the upcoming budget, impacting numerous workers.

Rachel Reeves declined to reaffirm the Labour manifesto’s commitment to not raise Income Tax, National Insurance, or VAT, stating that everyone will need to contribute.

Addressing the media ahead of the budget scheduled for November 26, Reeves emphasized the need to safeguard families from inflation and interest rate hikes, protect public services from austerity, and ensure a stable economy for future generations.

Keir Starmer also refrained from ruling out potential tax increases when questioned by Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, leaving uncertainty about the government’s tax plans.

Potential tax impacts depend on income levels. For instance, an additional 1p in Income Tax could result in an annual tax increase from £4,486 to £4,710 for someone earning an average UK income of £35,000 per year.

While these projections provide insight, final decisions on tax adjustments are pending the budget announcement and could
