A man was tragically discovered dead on the roadside after being viciously attacked by his own dog during a walk. Authorities reported that the 33-year-old was found lifeless in a ditch by a passerby in Lohne, Germany, last Thursday. Despite medical personnel arriving at the scene, the man’s dog remained by his side, hindering rescue efforts.
The dog, identified as an American Bulldog, was determined to have caused the man’s fatal injuries in a postmortem examination. Following the incident, the animal was taken into custody and is currently being held at an animal shelter for evaluation. Emergency responders faced challenges due to the dog’s protective behavior towards its owner.
Vanessa Bokr, a dog expert, speculated that the dog may have turned aggressive after being prevented from chasing something, leading to the tragic outcome. American Bulldogs, a breed older than the banned XL Bully in the UK, have been associated with several deadly attacks in various countries in recent years.
In a separate incident, a toddler in the US lost his life after entering an American Bulldog enclosure at his grandmother’s residence. The child sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to the wounds shortly after. The grandmother was also hurt while trying to intervene and the dog was euthanized at the family’s request.
Moreover, in the UK, a baby required urgent medical attention after being bitten on the face by the family’s American Bulldog. The incident occurred at a residence in Doncaster, resulting in severe facial injuries to the one-year-old who had previously experienced aggression from the dog. The canine is now under observation in a kennel for further assessment.
