The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) has responded to comments made by Nathan Aspinall regarding the audience at the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters. Aspinall expressed his belief that not all spectators were present willingly. The tournament kicked off with notable players like Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, and Aspinall competing.
After securing a victory in his first match against Lourence Ilagan, Aspinall shared his thoughts on the event’s ambiance. He mentioned that although it was a unique experience and the venue was small, it marked a starting point for future events.
The PDC clarified that all attendees were enthusiastic fans, refuting Aspinall’s perception. The organization explained that the event marked a new venture in the region, attracting many first-time live darts viewers. They acknowledged that the atmosphere might differ from traditional darts events in the UK and Europe due to the novelty of the occasion.
In a separate instance, world champion Luke Littler also commented on the tournament, noting the quieter atmosphere compared to his usual competitions. Despite the difference, Littler managed to secure a win and expressed readiness for upcoming matches.
The PDC emphasized that all spectators were legitimate ticket holders or guests, showcasing strong interest in the PDC’s debut in Saudi Arabia. The organization welcomed the positive reception and participation in the event.
