Luke Littler has been praised as the “greatest darts player of all time” by Luke Humphries following the 19-year-old’s victory at the World Masters. Littler defeated Humphries 6-5 in an intense match in Milton Keynes to secure his 11th major PDC title and the £100,000 prize. He showcased a remarkable performance with a 104.72 average and 13 maximums during the competition.
Surpassing Josh Rock in the quarterfinals and narrowly edging out Gerwyn Price 5-4 in the semifinals, Littler demonstrated his prowess on the dartboard. With this win, he now stands as the joint third most successful player in the history of darts, alongside James Wade, with only Michael van Gerwen (48) and Phil Taylor (79) having more titles to their names.
Despite Humphries averaging higher at 105.51 and leading 5-4 in the match, Littler staged a comeback in the final two sets to claim victory. Reflecting on his performance, Littler acknowledged the challenging nature of the game but credited his focus and determination for the win.
Humphries, while expressing disappointment at not clinching the title, acknowledged the positives from the tournament and emphasized the competitive spirit between him and Littler, who have previously faced off in TV finals with Littler emerging victorious.
