In a tragic incident, a father is facing allegations of causing the deaths of four children and concealing their bodies in his residence, all while reportedly engaging in social encounters.
Wellington Delano Dickens III, aged 38, has been arrested and charged with four counts of first-degree homicide as of October 28. The father claimed to law enforcement that he did not subject his children to torture but acknowledged “over-punishing” them. Following the execution of a search warrant, disturbing revelations emerged in the case, with the father purportedly leaving his deceased children’s remains to decay in his vehicle in North Carolina, as per local authorities.
Authorities have also accused the father of entertaining individuals he met through the Grindr dating application subsequent to the alleged incidents involving his children.
According to search warrants unveiled on January 14 and reported by WBTV, Dickens allegedly confessed to purchasing body bags from online retailer Amazon and placing his deceased children in them before storing their bodies in the trunk of his car.
Reportedly, Dickens informed law enforcement that his vehicle was inoperable and he had been reliant on food delivery services. During a search of his residence, authorities discovered two mobile phones.
One of the devices apparently did not have the Grindr app installed, yet police purportedly found exchanges between the father and individuals he encountered via the app, based on police records. It is believed that Dickens met several of these individuals at his home following the demise of his children.
Allegedly, Dickens contacted emergency services to report the deaths of four of his children. He purportedly claimed that a one-month-old infant passed away due to illness and he buried the baby on the property, although no body was found by authorities.
The father allegedly stated that a five-year-old girl died two months before he contacted emergency services after he disciplined her. He purportedly mentioned that he restrained the mouth of her nine-year-old sister with tape for complaining about the incident, leading to her demise when he returned to check on her later.
Additionally, Dickens asserted that a 10-year-old boy and his 18-year-old stepson succumbed to what he believed was malnutrition. The status of these children being reported missing remains unclear.
During the search, authorities found a three-year-old child unharmed and alive in the residence. State prosecutors, on December 18, announced their intent to pursue the death penalty for Dickens if he is convicted.
It has been reported that Dickens’ wife, Stephanie Jones, passed away due to a miscarriage.
Josalyn Tabron, a neighbor of the accused, expressed shock at the distressing situation, emphasizing the lack of detailed information provided by law enforcement regarding the case.
