A prominent figure from The Traitors has shared details about their significant weight loss journey, shedding a remarkable seven stone. Ed Gamble, who hosts The Traitors spin-off show, appears drastically different in photos from before his notable transformation.
The Uncloaked host confessed to struggling with weight gain in his youth, reaching a peak weight of 19 stone. Over time, he managed to trim down to 12 stone, albeit acknowledging the challenges that accompanied this achievement.
Addressing his weight loss and overall well-being, he candidly expressed, “I was leading an unhealthy lifestyle, feeling constantly unwell. I was not neglecting my type 1 diabetes entirely, but I was merely meeting the basic requirements to sustain myself.”
In a separate conversation, he reflected on a period of overeating and excessive drinking, neglecting the impact on his health and diabetes management. Presently, he finds solace in a more diabetes-focused routine, despite the increased effort it demands, noting the substantial improvement in his quality of life.
Transitioning to marathon running, Ed credits physical activity and weight loss for stabilizing his diabetes, emphasizing how the decision to prioritize his health has been transformative. He shared, “I recognized that weight loss presented an opportunity to better manage my diabetes, despite the initial daunting nature of the task. Since then, I have never looked back.”
Nevertheless, the emotional toll of his physical transformation is evident as Ed grapples with heightened self-consciousness. He expressed his dismay at unsolicited comments on his appearance, highlighting the societal pressure for men to conform to specific body standards.
Reflecting on shifting ideals of male physique over time, he remarked, “The societal expectation of the ideal male body has evolved from a slender, indie aesthetic to a current emphasis on muscularity and bulk.”
