Hundreds of households in Surrey could receive complimentary supermarket vouchers valued at £300 to assist with living expenses. The initiative is part of the Household Support Fund established by Surrey County Council to aid vulnerable families.
Residents of Surrey County Council can access the support through the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme if they are facing challenges in affording food and necessities. The vouchers are redeemable at various supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
Eligibility for the scheme includes being a Surrey resident over 18 years old with household savings not exceeding £2,000 on average over 90 days and an annual household income below £27,007.50 before tax and deductions.
Applicants are required to disclose income details and any household benefits received. Applications for vouchers open monthly, with the next round available starting from February 3. If the current month’s deadline is missed, reapplication is possible from March 2. For those outside Surrey requiring support, contacting the local council for assistance is recommended.
Nottingham City Council is also aiding individuals with low income or on benefits by providing £100 vouchers, distributed randomly to 10,000 successful households. Wakefield Council is offering food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance.
Additionally, Blackpool Council is distributing £200 energy aid to eligible one or two-person households and £300 to qualifying households with three or more individuals. To qualify for support, individuals must be facing financial hardship and struggling to meet bill payments, requiring recent bank statements for all household members as evidence.
