150 corgis recently gathered in Vilnius for an international event celebrating the beloved small herding dogs from Wales. The Corgi Race Vilnius featured various activities such as a costume parade, a “smartest nose” challenge, and a competition for the loudest bark. This year’s event marked the largest turnout yet, with participants coming from nine countries including Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and the United States, where the breed is famously adored by Queen Elizabeth II.
Organizer Edvinas Miskas highlighted the growth of the event, noting that it started with 40 corgis from one city and has now expanded to 150 dogs from multiple countries, including the breed’s place of origin. The competition included 94 dogs racing over 25 meters, with the American corgi named GG emerging as the winner, followed closely by Mr. Corgington from the U.S. and Lithuania’s Moka.
Aside from the speed race, the event also featured a costume parade with corgis showcasing creative outfits, a “smartest nose” challenge where dogs hunted for hidden treats, and a contest to determine the loudest bark. Mr. Corgington claimed victory in the loudest bark competition, showcasing his skills and experience in such events. Additionally, the event included a special fashion show with diverse costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere and highlighting the unique charm of these small but energetic dogs.
