After over a decade of conducting interviews and engaging in light-hearted conversations with movie stars, musicians, and athletes over some fried chicken, Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” revealed this week that she is bringing the show to a close.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Dimoldenberg expressed her fondness for creating numerous stories for her viewers, likening the show to her personal romantic comedy. She thanked her audience for joining her on this journey and finding joy in the episodes, acknowledging that while she never envisioned ending “Chicken Shop Date,” she believes it’s time to embark on a new adventure.

Dimoldenberg initiated the show 12 years ago by interviewing musicians within Britain’s underground rap scene. Over time, she expanded her guest list to include celebrities like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, accumulating nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.

“Chicken Shop Date” maintains a straightforward format where Dimoldenberg shares a quasi-date with a celebrity at a fried chicken establishment in London, posing a mix of flirty, humorous, and occasionally awkward questions. The dynamic often resembles first-date banter rather than a traditional talk show interview, occasionally leading to playful exchanges like the flirtatious interaction with Andrew Garfield.

Among her various interviews, Dimoldenberg has also hosted Canadians such as Ryan Reynolds, correcting him when he mistakenly identified a character from “Gossip Girl.” The show has attracted high-profile guests like Shania Twain, who disclosed during her appearance that she had never met Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

The success of her YouTube channel has opened up new opportunities for Dimoldenberg beyond the chicken shop, including red carpet coverage at prestigious events like the Oscars, where she interviewed Canadian actor Hudson Williams.

Although Dimoldenberg’s next steps following the conclusion of “Chicken Shop Date” remain uncertain, she is reportedly involved in developing a young adult drama series for the BBC. In her farewell message on Instagram, she teased “a few final dates” before bidding adieu to the show permanently.
