A week ago, Emmanuel Macron criticized Brexit and its impact on the crisis involving small boats in the UK. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has now expressed his disapproval of the decision to exit the EU. While not as forceful as the French President, the message remains clear – Brexit has led to disorder.

The issue of Brexit hindering efforts to address the small boats situation is no longer being ignored. During a press conference at the Airbus HQ in Stevenage, Mr. Starmer acknowledged this challenge and appreciated the assistance offered by the German Chancellor.

It has become evident that to combat trafficking gangs effectively, the UK must move past its conflicts with Europe. Recent agreements, including a new return deal with France and increased efforts from Germany to prevent people from reaching the UK, signify progress.

Brexit has been a significant obstacle in combating the issue, as highlighted to the audience. By the end of the year, Germany will commence raids on warehouses storing small boat components. This development indicates that Mr. Starmer’s diplomatic efforts with European leaders are yielding positive results.
