Robyn Stonier, a 26-year-old bride-to-be, credited her dog’s ‘sixth sense’ for detecting a hidden brain tumour that had been causing her unexplained headaches for three years. The revelation came during a family gathering last March when Robyn’s Labrador, Ember, unexpectedly collided with her head, triggering a severe headache followed by dizziness and intense pressure headaches in the days that followed.
Initially attributing her symptoms to stress or hormonal issues, Robyn’s condition deteriorated, leading her to seek medical attention. Subsequent CT scans uncovered a meningioma brain tumour, prompting a nine-hour surgery to remove the 3.5cm mass. Despite initial reassurances of its benign nature, further tests revealed the tumour was cancerous, necessitating chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments.
Fortunately, Robyn is now cancer-free, with her miraculous recovery attributed to Ember’s unusual behavior that ultimately led to the tumour’s discovery. Reflecting on the ordeal, Robyn emphasized the importance of taking persistent headaches seriously, urging others to advocate for thorough medical evaluations to ensure early detection of potential health issues.
Following the challenging journey, including multiple health complications post-surgery, Robyn expressed gratitude for her recovery while lamenting the cancellation of her planned Cyprus wedding. Despite the setbacks, she remains thankful for Ember’s intervention and encourages others to prioritize their health by seeking timely medical attention for any concerning symptoms.
