During this festive season, many of us enjoy having a tin of chocolates on hand to share with loved ones or savor on our own. However, before you make that purchase, be prepared for higher prices this year.

In the past, a tin of holiday chocolates would typically cost around five pounds. Yet, during a recent visit to my local supermarket, I was taken aback by the price tags on Cadbury Roses and Heroes tins – a hefty £16.50 each.

While there is a discounted rate of £10 available with a Nectar card, it still seems quite expensive. Fortunately, there are more budget-friendly options for Sainsbury’s shoppers looking for chocolate Christmas tins.

For instance, the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Mixed Chunks Tin (60g) is priced at £9.59 or £6.50 with a Nectar card. Additionally, a 750g tin of Quality Street is offered at £13 or £8.50 with a Nectar card.

Moreover, tubs of Celebrations, Heroes, and Quality Street weighing 500-550g are available for just £6 each at Sainsbury’s.

For those seeking better deals, Tesco might be the place to go. Currently, the same 500-550g tubs of Celebrations and Quality Street are priced at only £3.95 with a Clubcard and £4.50 without the discount.

Furthermore, the Heroes tin, priced at £16.50/£10 in Sainsbury’s, is reduced to £7.50 with a Clubcard at Tesco, but it is regularly priced at £15.

Recent findings have revealed the supermarkets offering the most affordable Christmas chocolate tubs. Asda has standard tubs of Heroes, Roses, and Celebrations for under £5, while Morrisons sells them for £7 (£5.50 with a Morrisons More Card).

In addition, Celebrations and Quality Street tubs are priced at £3.95 with a Clubcard at Tesco, and Roses and Heroes are sold at £7 (£5.25 with a Clubcard). Aldi and Lidl also have tubs for less than £5.

Please note that Marks and Spencer and Waitrose do not carry traditional tubs on their websites. However, both retailers offer smaller pouch-sized packets and alternative festive chocolates ranging from approximately £4 to £10.
