A woman who purchased a lethal substance from Miles Cross shared that had she not regained her senses, the product could have tragically claimed her life.

Cross, 33, received a 14-year prison sentence today for his involvement in selling substances online that led to two suicides. Exploiting the vulnerable and mentally ill, he operated a scheme on an internet suicide platform where he showcased a QR code enabling individuals to buy a chemical directly from him and complete payment through his bank account.

The unnamed woman, reflecting on her ordeal, expressed, “When I decided to buy this substance, I was in a fragile state, overwhelmed, and suffering silently. This experience inflicted deep emotional wounds on me. I have since overcome that phase, but the ease of access to the substance makes me ponder if I hadn’t regained my senses, I might not be here today. It feels like he targeted people like me who were vulnerable.”

She continued, “Although he may not realize the full impact of his actions on me, the substance he promoted, sold, and sent to me had the potential to end my life and devastate my family. I hope my story can provide support to others and ensure the safety of those facing similar challenges.”

Gareth Evans, Assistant Chief Constable of North Wales, disclosed that one individual who procured the substance from Cross but refrained from self-harm felt victimized by him.

He emphasized, “This underscores the gravity of his crimes, but also signifies hope as she chose not to use the substance he supplied, opting to survive. We strongly urge anyone exposed to such situations to seek specialized support from organizations like Samaritans instead of engaging with online platforms where predators like Cross lurk to exploit vulnerability.”

Cross, operating under a pseudonym, sold four kits at £100 each, dispatching the chemical via mail. Tragically, two individuals took their lives as a consequence.

During a search at Cross’s residence in January 2025, authorities uncovered quantities of the chemical and related materials. Examination of his seized devices connected him to the forum, social media accounts, and the bank transactions.

He registered on the forum in July 2024, and the offenses reportedly occurred on various dates in August of the same year.

In police interviews, Cross, hailing from Wrexham, refuted the allegations of selling the kits and denied endangering anyone. However, during a court appearance in November, he pled guilty to four counts of encouraging or assisting in another person’s suicide. One victim identified was Shubhreet Singh, 26, who tragically passed away in West Yorkshire. The identities of the other victims remain confidential under a court order.

Following his sentencing, Andy Burrows, Chief Executive of the Molly Rose Foundation, dedicated to preventing youth suicide, condemned Cross for exploiting vulnerable individuals and facilitating access to a deadly substance linked to numerous UK deaths.

Det Supt Chris Bell of North Wales Police condemned Cross for capitalizing on vulnerable individuals in their darkest moments, profiting from their distress and mental health struggles.

Alison Storey, Specialist Prosecutor with the CPS Special Crime Division, highlighted Cross’s manipulation of distressed individuals by providing substances intended for fatal outcomes solely for monetary gain, cautioning against the dangers posed by online predators targeting vulnerable individuals.

Law enforcement described Cross as a “predator” exploiting vulnerable individuals during their most challenging times in life, as he preyed on their vulnerability for personal gain.
