The incident involved a LATAM Airlines flight from Peru, with the Boeing 767-300ER being surrounded by fire engines post-landing. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the tire blowout.
Passengers onboard experienced a loud banging noise and intense shaking upon touchdown, with some expressing gratitude for their survival. Liza Karseno, a passenger, described the landing as initially smooth until it felt like the wheels had burst, prompting concerns about the aircraft’s ability to stop due to its speed. Photos taken by passengers revealed tires torn from the landing gear rims, damage to the bathroom door, and overhead baggage compartments opening during the landing.
All passengers were safely evacuated by firefighters with no reported injuries. The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department responded to the incident, addressing the flat tires on the aircraft. The Boeing 767-300ER, commonly used by LATAM Peru for long-haul flights between Lima and Atlanta, accommodates up to 221 passengers along with crew members. The airline has been contacted for comment.
