Jeffrey Epstein’s brother has made assertions that forthcoming autopsy details will reveal the controversial financier was murdered in 2019, disputing the official ruling of suicide. Epstein, who was found dead by hanging in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York while facing sex trafficking charges, was identified by his brother Mark. In a recent interview with NewsNation, Mark, aged 71, insisted that new information to be released in February will provide evidence supporting the claim that his brother was killed in jail. This contradicts the official reports stating Epstein’s death as self-inflicted.

Shortly after Epstein’s demise, Mark enlisted the services of former NYC chief medical examiner, Dr. Michael Baden, to oversee the autopsy conducted by city authorities. In 2019, Baden concluded that the evidence indicated homicide rather than suicide. However, official investigations have maintained the stance that Epstein, aged 66 at the time of his death, took his own life.

A 2023 Department of Justice inspector general report highlighted various failures in prison oversight that contributed to Epstein’s death but ultimately absolved any external involvement. Despite this, suspicions persist that Epstein’s demise was orchestrated to shield his influential connections.

Mark, in the NewsNation interview, emphasized, “There are only three ways to die in prison: suicide, natural causes, or murder. And Jeff was murdered. I want to know who killed him and why?”

In a related development, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence for her involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring, expressed doubts about Epstein’s alleged suicide. During an interrogation by deputy attorney general Todd Blanche in 2025, Maxwell stated she does not believe Epstein died by suicide. When asked about the possibility of external involvement in Epstein’s death, Maxwell suggested the potential for internal factors within the prison environment.

Maxwell further discredited theories of external parties orchestrating Epstein’s demise to silence him, asserting lack of firsthand knowledge or belief in such allegations. She reasoned that if someone intended harm, there were ample opportunities outside of jail to act. Maxwell dismissed blackmail speculations and maintained her stance that any potential foul play likely originated from within the prison system.
