Anthony Joshua has successfully met the weight requirement for his upcoming bout against Jake Paul, accomplishing this two weeks ahead of schedule. The former two-time heavyweight champion had been out of action since a devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, which led to a period of recovery due to minor injuries sustained during the fight.

After undergoing elbow surgery, Joshua wasted no time returning to training and is anticipated to handle the relatively inexperienced Jake Paul before an eventful 2026 in the boxing world. Scheduled for December 19 in Miami, Joshua and Paul will square off in a professional heavyweight showdown, set for eight three-minute rounds with both fighters using 10oz gloves.

Joshua, who had been informed that he must weigh in under 245lb for the fight, will face the challenge of cutting weight before the match. However, a recent update revealed that Joshua currently weighs around 111kg (244.7Ib), indicating he is on track for the bout. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, expressed confidence in Joshua’s preparation and physical condition for the upcoming fight.

A victory in this bout would boost Joshua’s confidence as he looks forward to a significant 2026 in boxing, which might include a potential summer clash with Tyson Fury. Plans set forth by Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh hint at exciting events involving Joshua, with the anticipation of major fights in London and surprise matchups ahead.

The highly anticipated clash between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul in Miami on December 19 will be available for live streaming on Netflix. Fight fans can access the event for free with Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle, offering the brand’s lowest price for Sky TV. The fight is expected to take place around 11pm local time, potentially around 4am UK time, subject to adjustments based on the undercard’s duration.
