A rising star in darts, Mitchell Lawrie, a 15-year-old sensation, has amazed Luke Littler with his exceptional performances at the WDF World Championship held at Lakeside. Lawrie made history by defeating Tomoya Maruyama and Jason Brandon, setting a new record as the youngest player to win at Lakeside.

Lawrie’s outstanding display included five maximums and impressive checkouts, culminating in a remarkable 97.21 average, the highest in the tournament. Littler praised Lawrie on the WDF Darts Instagram account, calling him “a joke.”

After his victory over Brandon, Lawrie expressed his elation, stating, “I’m absolutely buzzing with myself, to be honest.” Despite facing a tough opponent in Brandon, Lawrie showcased his skill and determination, starting strong and maintaining his performance throughout the match.

Lawrie’s rapid start, with legs completed in under 15 darts, showcased his exceptional talent. Although he narrowly missed a nine-dart finish, Lawrie managed a superb 134 checkout, thrilling the crowd and gaining their support.

As the match progressed, Lawrie faced a resurgence from Brandon but ultimately regained control to secure victory. Reflecting on the game, Lawrie admitted a slight lapse in focus but commended the supportive crowd for helping him stay on track.

When questioned about any nerves during crucial moments, Lawrie attributed a missed opportunity to external distractions but praised the overall positive atmosphere. Looking ahead, the PDC World Darts Championship is set to kick off on December 11, offering fans exclusive live coverage via Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
