Thousands of households have a limited time left to secure £100 worth of supermarket vouchers before the deadline expires. Nottingham City Council is offering these vouchers through the Household Support Fund, and applications must be submitted by midnight. While specific eligibility details have not been disclosed, it is anticipated that individuals with low incomes or receiving benefits will qualify. Interested individuals can submit their applications on the Nottingham City Council website.

The council aims to notify applicants via email by December 12, with voucher distribution expected to continue until February 28, 2026. The vouchers, totaling 10,000, will be allocated randomly to successful households, irrespective of previous vouchers received after April 2025.

Councillor Cheryl Barnard, the Executive Member for Children, Young People, and Education at the Council, expressed satisfaction at the additional £1 million allocated to assist Nottingham’s most vulnerable residents with winter expenses. The funding aims to alleviate financial pressures faced by households during periods of heightened costs in recent years. Further financial guidance and support resources are available on the council’s website for households in need.

The Household Support Fund, part of a £742 million fund distributed to local councils across England, aids vulnerable households in covering essential living expenses such as energy bills and food. Residents facing financial difficulties are encouraged to seek assistance from their local council, similar to the support provided by Wakefield Council through food vouchers for low-income households.

Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support received £70 vouchers in November, with additional vouchers planned for other eligible households. Families benefiting from Council Tax Support will receive £50 vouchers starting December 15, while all other supported households will receive £70 vouchers between December 3 and December 12.

In specific cases, Blackpool Council is offering £200 in energy support to eligible households of one or two individuals, with larger households of three or more people, including children, receiving £300. Individuals experiencing financial challenges and struggling to meet bill payments must provide recent bank statements for all household members to qualify for assistance.
