“Beware: Android Security Patch for Dolby Bug Released”

Android users are advised to check for the latest security patch released by Google to address a critical bug affecting Dolby audio components. This bug could potentially allow hackers to exploit devices through audio attachments. Although Google fixed the issue last month, the wider release is now available for all Android phones.

Adam Boynton, Senior Security Strategy Manager EMEIA at Jamf, emphasized the importance of addressing the vulnerability, known as CVE-2025-54957, which allows attackers to execute malicious code. It is crucial for Android and iOS users to keep their devices updated to safeguard personal data against such threats.

Regular patching is highlighted as a key defense against mobile risks, with Boynton underscoring the significance of staying updated to mitigate modern threats. Instructions on how to update Android devices include navigating to the Settings app, tapping on System, selecting Software updates, checking the update status, and following on-screen instructions.
