Summer McIntosh, a Canadian swimming sensation, is aiming for a remarkable feat at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles after securing multiple gold medals in previous events. Her goal is to win five individual gold medals, a record achieved only by legendary swimmer Michael Phelps during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
During a recent trip to California, McIntosh felt inspired when she saw SoFi Stadium, which will be transformed into the largest swimming venue in Olympic history for the 2028 Games. Excited about the upcoming challenge, the 19-year-old athlete from Toronto expressed her aspirations to make history at the grand event.
McIntosh is currently in Irvine, California, for the Pan Pacific championships, a prestigious event that features top swimmers from around the world. The competition includes powerhouse nations like Australia, the United States, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, China, and Canada, showcasing the best in international swimming talent.
The Pan Pacs, held every four years, kicked off with open-water events in Long Beach, with Emma Finlin representing Canada with a strong performance. McIntosh, along with a team of 42 Canadian swimmers, is set to compete in various events over the course of the competition.
McIntosh’s schedule includes four events at the Pan Pacs, starting with the 200m freestyle and culminating in the 200m individual medley. Despite her impressive track record and world records, McIntosh faces tough competition from international stars like Katie Ledecky and Lanni Pallister.
