A convicted murderer who recorded songs glorifying his killing of a young victim is scheduled to be transferred to a less secure prison facility.

Jake Fahri, who was convicted at the age of 19 and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 14 years for fatally injuring schoolboy Jimmy Mizen in a south London bakery, will be moved to an open prison. The incident occurred when Fahri threw an oven dish at 16-year-old Jimmy, causing severe neck injuries. Witnesses recall seeing Fahri leaving the scene with a smirk on his face.

Fahri was released on parole in June 2023 but was sent back to prison in January 2025 after it was discovered that he had published music containing lyrics that glorified the murder.

Referred to as the masked drill artist Ten, Fahri, in one of his tracks available on Spotify and YouTube, indirectly referenced Jimmy’s tragic death. Despite initially denying that the music was autobiographical, Fahri later admitted to being the rapper Ten.

A Parole Board decision document revealed that Fahri failed to disclose important information about his music activities to his probation officer, violating the terms of his release. Additionally, he breached other conditions, including using an alias, violating exclusion zones, and staying at unapproved locations.

While Fahri claimed he was unaware of the restrictions, evidence from his probation officer disproved this assertion. At a hearing, Fahri and his supporters advocated for his release, but the Justice Secretary, David Lammy, opposed it.

The Parole Board concluded that Fahri’s release would pose a risk to public safety due to concerns about his compliance with the terms of release. They recommended that Fahri be transferred to an open prison to work on his behavior and attitude.

In response to the decision, Jimmy’s mother expressed relief that Fahri would remain in custody, suggesting that this decision should have been made earlier.

Open prisons offer minimal security and allow eligible inmates to spend a significant portion of their day outside the prison for work or educational purposes. The final decision on Fahri’s transfer will be made by Justice Secretary David Lammy. The Mirror has reached out to the Parole Board and Ministry of Justice for further comments.
