Count Nikolai of Monpezat, the grandson of Queen Margrethe II, is stepping into the world of acting with enthusiasm. The 26-year-old, known for his modeling career, is set to make his acting debut in the upcoming film adaptation of the 1905 Swedish novel, Doktor Glas. In this new venture, Count Nikolai will be portraying the character of Patrick Gregorius’s half-brother.
Expressing his excitement about this new opportunity, Count Nikolai mentioned that he initially felt a mix of excitement and intimidation when he first read the script. Despite being a novice in acting, he embraced the challenge and is eager to explore this new creative outlet. While he is accustomed to the limelight due to his modeling stints, acting presents a different set of challenges for him.
Regarding his role in the film, Count Nikolai shared his positive experience working with a talented team and the thrill of seeing himself on screen for the first time. He emphasized that he is focused on this project as a job rather than a definitive career path at this stage.
Despite his interest in acting, Count Nikolai also maintains his role as a consultant in the property sector of the Confederation of Danish Industry. He acknowledges that the decision to pursue acting further will depend on the outcome of his current project.
In a recent development, it was announced that Queen Margrethe had decided that her son’s children would no longer use their prince and princess titles starting from 2023. This decision aimed to allow the grandchildren more freedom in shaping their lives outside the formalities associated with the Royal House of Denmark. Count Nikolai, formerly known as Prince Nikolai, expressed his shock and sadness at losing his princely title, emphasizing the suddenness of the decision.
Reflecting on his family connections, Count Nikolai shared insights into his relationship with his grandmother, Queen Margrethe II, who had close ties with the late Queen Elizabeth. The familial connection between the two queens added a personal touch to their interactions.
As Count Nikolai navigates his budding acting career and adjusts to the changes in his royal status, he remains focused on exploring new opportunities and experiences in the entertainment industry.
