Stranger Things actor David Harbour has decided to withdraw from his upcoming film project, Behemoth!, which was already in production. Harbour was set to star alongside Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde in the film, which commenced filming in October 2025. The exact reason for Harbour’s exit remains undisclosed, but reports indicate that his role will now be filled by Will Arnett.
Sources suggest that the replacement of Harbour by Arnett will not necessitate extensive reshoots, as Harbour had filmed only a few scenes due to his commitments to the press tour for season five of Stranger Things. Harbour portrayed police chief Jim Hopper in the series, which concluded with its final episode released on January 1, marking almost a decade since the show’s inception.
The latest installment of Stranger Things, comprising three parts and airing from late 2025 to January, was accompanied by a global press tour that Harbour was actively engaged in. Concurrently, Harbour faced personal challenges following the release of his ex-wife Lily Allen’s album, West End Girl, which hinted at relationship complexities.
While Allen mentioned that parts of the album are fictional, she also hinted at truths within. Harbour refrained from commenting on the album or the implied allegations. The former couple, married for four years, had their share of public attention leading up to the album’s unveiling.
Harbour’s management has been reached for comments regarding his departure from Behemoth!.
