A decorated war hero was fatally shot during a tragic incident at his residence following a problematic meeting arranged through the Facebook Marketplace. Michael Ryan Burke, aged 42, was engaged in a sale that took a turn for the worse, resulting in a robbery involving a cell phone on Sunday. In a distressing turn of events, he managed to provide a detailed description of the alleged assailants to the police in a final call before bidding a heart-wrenching farewell to his family.

Law enforcement officials have apprehended three 18-year-olds and a juvenile male, charging them with murder in the shocking episode that unfolded in Columbia, Missouri. Despite being shot inside his home, Michael succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

Alexis Baumann, 18, faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and first-degree burglary, while Kobe Aust, 18, is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and first-degree burglary. Additionally, Joseph Crane, 18, is detained on charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and unlawful use of a weapon. A male juvenile, whose identity remains undisclosed, has also been arrested on similar charges.

A close friend of Ryan, Jerry Reifeiss, who befriended him during their time at university, shared poignant details of Ryan’s final moments in a heart-rending interview. The friend likened Ryan’s courage during the ordeal to the resilience he displayed during his military service.

Jerry recounted how Ryan bravely contacted emergency services while providing descriptions of the suspects and managed to send farewell messages to his mother and sister, expressing his love despite the dire circumstances.

The Columbia Missouri Police Department confirmed that officers administered medical aid before transferring Michael Ryan Burke to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries sustained in the shooting. Family members have been notified of his passing.

Reflecting on Ryan’s selfless nature, Jerry praised his friend’s determination to seek justice and ensure his loved ones knew his feelings in his final moments. Ryan’s actions exemplified his caring and protective nature, putting others’ well-being above his own.

This incident follows the recent sentencing of Jazz Reid, a suspected contract killer who posed as a Deliveroo rider before shooting an eight-year-old girl and her father. Reid fired multiple shots, resulting in injuries to the girl and her 34-year-old father, leading to a 38-year prison sentence for the assailant.
