Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have confirmed their decision to relocate to the United Kingdom with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5. The move, announced by Buckingham Palace, will see the royal couple living as private citizens upon their return. While the exact timeline for their relocation was not disclosed, reports suggest they aim to be back in Britain in time for their children to commence school in September.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had stepped back from their full-time royal duties and departed the UK in March 2020. Following a brief stay in Canada, they eventually settled in California later that same month. Their decision to move back to the UK comes amid strained relations with the Royal Family, exacerbated by public criticisms of the monarchy and family members by Prince Harry.

In an interview on “The Late, Late Show with James Corden” in February 2021, Prince Harry expressed the challenges he faced within the royal environment and his determination to prioritize his family’s well-being. Despite disagreements and changes in security arrangements, Harry emphasized that he never intended to completely sever ties with his royal duties.

Additionally, Prince Harry was involved in a privacy lawsuit against The Daily Mail, which he lost along with other notable figures in a legal battle against the newspaper’s publisher. Following the court’s decision, Harry voiced his disappointment, calling it a “whitewash” and criticizing the court’s exoneration of The Daily Mail.

Relations between Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, seemed to be improving as they met for the first time in nearly two years last September. The family’s recent visit to Britain in July allowed King Charles to reunite with his grandchildren, marking a positive step in their relationship. King Charles, who had been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, showed positive progress, prompting a shift to a precautionary phase in his medical care.

The upcoming relocation of Prince Harry and Meghan to the UK has been met with anticipation, with the Palace affirming King Charles’s support and eagerness to spend more time with the Sussex family in a personal and private setting.
