Elliot Page’s remarkable performance in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey earlier this year garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and fans. Despite this, Page revealed in a recent podcast interview that he has not received any casting offers since the success of the film.

During an appearance on On Film… With Kevin McCarthy, Page shared that there has been a lack of incoming calls for new projects. Contrary to expectations, Page stated, “No, Kevin, I’m not” when asked about the influx of opportunities post the movie.

Page’s portrayal of the character Sinon in The Odyssey was highly praised for his poignant performance. The Canadian actor humorously addressed the backlash he faced for being Canadian and subtly referenced the transphobic reactions surrounding false rumors about his casting as Achilles.

Following his impactful roles in films like Juno, Inception, and Hard Candy, Page came out as transgender in 2020. He has been an outspoken advocate against anti-2SLGBTQ+ rhetoric and legislation in North America, emphasizing the importance of authenticity and acceptance for transgender individuals.

Expressing a newfound confidence in his craft, Page shared in the podcast that he is eager to explore diverse roles and believes that his transition has liberated him from previous performance constraints. Reflecting on his experience working with Nolan on both Inception and The Odyssey, Page highlighted the personal growth he has undergone since his transition.

Page’s experience with post-film opportunities mirrors that of Samantha Morton, who played Circe in The Odyssey. Morton also disclosed on a podcast that she has not booked any roles since the film’s release, attributing the industry’s changing dynamics and fierce competition among talented actors as contributing factors to the challenge of securing new projects.
