A man sentenced to 65 years in prison for the murder of his six-year-old son resorted to deceit in a failed attempt to conceal his crime. Franklin Elmore Jr., 29, received his sentence after being found guilty of brutally ending his son’s life. Despite pleading for leniency, the judge remained resolute, emphasizing that Elmore had fatally beaten his own child.

Initially, Elmore tried to shift blame by alleging that his son, Justin Elmore, had caused his own fatal injuries. However, this fabrication was quickly exposed, leading to both him and his wife, Cheyenne Elmore, 27, facing murder charges. While Cheyenne initially denied the murder accusation, she later changed her plea to guilty on November 6 and is awaiting sentencing on January 13.

On the night of August 3, 2025, the Elmores, residing in Louisiana, contacted emergency services claiming Justin was unresponsive. Subsequent medical evaluation revealed the boy had suffered a traumatic brain bleed and a punctured lung.

Despite Elmore’s claim that Justin had self-inflicted injuries due to behavioral issues, medical professionals disputed this assertion. Tragically, Justin succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, leading to the arrest of the Elmores on August 8.

Further investigation revealed the severe abuse Justin endured, including strenuous exercises like rope jumping, weight holding, and running, witnessed by their neighbors. Prosecutors disclosed that on the day Justin was hospitalized, he was coerced by his parents to run 3.5 miles for approximately 90 minutes before being fatally beaten in his playroom.

Elmore struck a plea deal with prosecutors just before his trial, admitting guilt during the hearing. He acknowledged causing Justin’s death and admitted that his disciplinary actions were far from acceptable parental behavior.

Justin’s biological mother, Miranda McBride, recounted her attempts to alert authorities about her son’s mistreatment, which went unheeded due to the absence of visible bruises. However, a search of the Elmores’ phones revealed incriminating photos of Justin bearing bruises and other injuries.

McBride expressed some satisfaction with Elmore’s sentence, stating she had anticipated a harsher penalty. Elmore received a 55-year sentence plus an additional 10 years for aggravated offenses, while his wife’s sentencing is pending this month.
