A surprising turn of events has unfolded in the tragic deaths of Spencer Tepe and Monique Tepe, as Monique’s former spouse, Michael McKee, has been apprehended and accused of their murders. The bodies of Monique, aged 39, and Spencer, aged 37, were discovered lifeless in their home on December 30. Colleagues raised concerns when Spencer did not show up for work, prompting a visit to their residence, where the dreadful scene was encountered after hearing children crying inside.

Although the Tepes’ children were physically unharmed, it was evident that their parents had been brutally killed before them. Spencer had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while Monique had been shot at least once in the chest, according to police reports.

After ruling out a murder-suicide, authorities released footage of a person of interest spotted near the Tepes’ home, dressed in light pants and a dark hooded coat. Subsequently, Michael McKee was taken into custody on January 10 and charged with the double homicide, leaving neighbors in disbelief.

Detectives pinned McKee as a suspect through surveillance footage from the Columbus neighborhood in Ohio, tracking his whereabouts to Rockford, approximately 79 miles northwest of Chicago. McKee, who pleaded not guilty in court, was previously married to Monique for nearly two years before their divorce in 2017.

Amidst the divorce proceedings, Monique was granted the divorce on grounds of incompatibility, with McKee receiving their former marital home in Virginia while she resided in Westerville. The couple did not have children during their marriage, and no spousal support was awarded.

Expressing astonishment at the turn of events, a neighbor, Gera-Lind Kolarik, remarked on McKee’s unexpected alleged involvement, highlighting the profound impact on the children left behind. The Tepe family, who gathered for a life celebration service, acknowledged the progress made in the case, emphasizing the pursuit of justice for Monique and Spencer.

The family thanked the Columbus Police Department and the law enforcement community for their efforts, seeking accountability for the individual responsible for the tragic loss. They pledged to uphold the memory and love of Monique and Spencer, ensuring the protection and support of their surviving children.
