Frankie Dettori has bid farewell to his illustrious racing career on a high note by clinching victory in Brazil, triumphing in the first leg of the nation’s Triple Crown. Initially planning to retire at Ascot’s Champions Day in October 2023, Dettori had a change of heart and extended his career in the United States.

The 55-year-old officially announced last November that his racing journey would culminate at the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar, followed by a final tour in South America, concluding at Rio de Janeiro’s Gavea racecourse. At the event, he showcased his skill by claiming victory on Speak Alpha and Bet You Can in the Brazilian 2,000 Guineas, the Grande Premio Estado do Rio De Janeiro.

The win provided Dettori with a fitting occasion to execute his iconic flying dismount celebration, marking the end of an era for the revered jockey. Reflecting on his last race, Dettori expressed his gratitude and emotions, stating, “I never expected to win a Group 1 on my last day. It’s been brilliant.”

Despite retiring from professional jockeying, Dettori revealed plans to remain engaged in the racing world by accepting a role as a global ambassador for Amo Racing, led by Kia Joorabchian. In a heartfelt message to his fans on social media, Dettori acknowledged the profound impact racing has had on his life, expressing gratitude to his family, colleagues, and supporters who accompanied him on his remarkable journey.

With a career spanning nearly four decades, Dettori cherished the experiences, memories, and connections forged through the sport, thanking everyone who contributed to his success and allowing him to live out his childhood dream.
