If you own a Freeview television, it’s a good time to ensure it’s updated and retuned as two new channels have recently been added to the free-to-view platform. The upgrades bring movies and children’s TV to viewers’ screens.
One of the new channels is wedotv Movies UK, which has transitioned from an online-only service to a full over-the-air channel. This change allows all households to access the channel, even those without internet-connected TVs. The channel features a lineup of recent blockbuster films like “One-Eyed Jacks,” “Willow Creek,” and “The Way.”
Additionally, a channel catering to younger audiences called Cartoon Classics has debuted on channel 214. Viewers can enjoy classic animated shows such as “The Smurfs,” “Count Duckula,” “Sonic X,” and “Leo & Tig.”
To access these new channels, ensure your TV is fully updated by checking the settings. Freeview advises users to retune their devices due to upcoming changes by broadcasters on October 22, 2025, to keep their channels and TV Guide current.
In addition to the channel additions, a service on channel 45, previously known as Gems TV, has been rebranded as Gemporia.
Freeview has provided steps for users to retune their devices:
– Press the menu button on your TV remote control.
– Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’, or a similar option. If prompted for a password, enter ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
– Choose ‘first-time installation’ or a similar option.
– Confirm the deletion of existing channels and proceed with the retune. Save any new channels found during the process.
Freeview emphasizes that channel lineups are constantly evolving, with channels making decisions to relocate, add, or remove content. The platform aims to offer diverse and engaging programming for audiences.
