However, her encounter with contemporary acronyms like “ICYMI” left her initially puzzled, mistaking it for a fashion brand logo. The evolving landscape of language in today’s world feels like a foreign dialect to her, with terms like LMAO and WTF requiring translation assistance from her children.
Navigating through terms like IRL and JSYK presents a challenge for Kendrick, who sometimes confuses them with unrelated words. Admitting to feeling left out due to her lack of comprehension, she humorously acknowledges her struggle to keep up with the ever-changing linguistic trends.
In her workplace, Kendrick often finds herself googling acronyms like YOLO, highlighting the shift towards abbreviation-heavy communication. Despite working in an environment where acronyms dominate, she humorously contemplates interpreting them in creative ways, like mistaking FOMD for a fear of missed deadlines.
While Kendrick avoids using slang in professional settings, she enjoys bantering with her children using terms like “JK.” Reflecting on her upbringing, she credits her parents for instilling a passion for education, which now helps her navigate the complex world of modern abbreviations and acronyms.
Embracing the ongoing challenge of deciphering everyday language, Kendrick appreciates the practical and polite communication skills she has developed.
