Millions of Gmail users are receiving a significant update from Google, allowing them to change their email addresses. This new feature is particularly beneficial for users who are dissatisfied with their current Gmail account name. Google has confirmed the rollout of the ability to modify the Google Account username, which is used for various services such as Gmail, Photos, and Drive.

The update ensures that both the original and new email addresses will function simultaneously, preventing users from missing any messages sent to either account. Google assures that existing data, including photos, messages, and emails, will remain unaffected by the change.

Although this enhancement is currently only available in the US, users in other regions, like the UK, will have access to it soon. For US users, Google recommends navigating to the account settings, selecting personal information, then email, and finally, Google account email to change the username. Users are advised that only one new address can be created every 12 months and to monitor their settings for the update availability.
