Home Bargains has officially announced that it will shut down for three days during the festive season, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, to give their dedicated employees a well-deserved break.
For the past five years, Home Bargains has maintained the tradition of closing its stores on Boxing Day and has regular closing times of around 8pm on weekdays and Saturdays, with Sunday hours usually until 4pm.
With over 600 stores across the UK, the discount retailer’s decision to close during the holidays has been well-received by both employees and customers, as evident from the appreciative comments on their Facebook post. The move to prioritize staff well-being has been praised by many, emphasizing the importance of spending quality time with loved ones.
Additionally, Home Bargains recently implemented AI technology to enhance security measures at self-checkouts, aiming to detect any potential theft by identifying unscanned items. This initiative, in collaboration with tech companies SAI and Everseen, is part of a trial to address retail crime and improve overall store security.
