Popular late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has been removed from the air indefinitely due to controversial comments made by host Jimmy Kimmel regarding the death of Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Nextstar Media, a major owner of US TV stations, announced the suspension of the show, stating that they would be preempting broadcasts of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in response to Kimmel’s remarks. The decision affects ABC Television Network affiliates owned and partnered with Nextstar Media.
The controversy arose after Kimmel discussed Charlie Kirk’s tragic death during his show, implying that the “MAGA gang” was attempting to politicize the activist’s murder. Kirk was fatally shot on September 10 during a debate at Utah Valley University. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, has been arrested and faces serious charges, including aggravated murder.
Following Kimmel’s comments, the Federal Communications Commission’s Chairman Brendan Carr criticized Disney, the show’s parent company, and called for Kimmel to be taken off the air. In response, Nextstar Media decided to suspend the show indefinitely.
