A jovial 31-year-old bartender was discovered deceased in his London apartment following a suspected heart attack. Matteo Leone’s flatmates found him unresponsive early on Sunday, January 4.
Emergency responders were alerted promptly, but unfortunately, Matteo could not be revived, with indications suggesting he passed away in his sleep. Although awaiting official post-mortem results, initial findings suggest a potential heart attack as the cause of his untimely death.
Matteo was known to be content with his bartending role in London, as captured in a photo showing him cheerfully mixing cocktails at the Looking Glass Cocktail Club in Shoreditch.
Having relocated post-education to embrace city life and enhance his English skills, Matteo had been residing in London for a considerable period. Originally from Canosa di Puglia near Bari, he had spent most of his life in Castiglione Messer Raimondo near Pescara.
His grief-stricken father, Graziano Leone, a police station chief in Pescara, flew to London immediately upon hearing the news. Matteo is also survived by his mother and three siblings, with a memorial gathering held in his honor at Shoreditch Park the previous evening.
Arrangements are being made to repatriate Matteo’s remains to Italy. A close friend, Mirko, expressed sorrow, reminiscing about Matteo’s vibrant presence and infectious smile that will forever be cherished.
“Safe travels, Matté.”
