In a harrowing incident, a man was captured on video committing a heinous act of violence against his infant daughter on Facebook Live before taking his own life.

Thai authorities disclosed that 21-year-old Wuttisan Wongtalay tragically ended his 11-month-old daughter Natalie’s life by hanging her and then proceeded to end his own life at an abandoned hotel in Phuket. This devastating event occurred following reported disputes with his wife back in 2017.

Unbelievably, the disturbing video remained live on Facebook for an entire day before being removed. Facebook extended its sympathies to the affected family for the “shocking” occurrence and promptly took down the content.

Subsequently, local media aired heart-wrenching scenes of the child’s mother, 21-year-old Chiranut Trairat, sorrowfully holding her baby in her arms. She was seen tearfully expressing her grief at a temple beside her daughter’s coffin, softly saying, “my child, mamma is here.”

Chiranut Trairat revealed that her husband had a history of abusive behavior and had previously served a two-year prison sentence before their relationship began.

According to authorities, this tragic incident marked the first known instance of a killing being broadcast on Facebook in Thailand. One viewer described it as the “most malevolent clip I’ve witnessed in my life.”

The distressing video was also available on YouTube but was promptly removed after the BBC alerted the platform to its existence.

Facebook has pledged to reassess its policies following a distressing incident in 2017 when a brutal video of a US murder remained on the platform for an extended period. Unfortunately, the family of Wuttisan Wongtalay saw the distressing footage and alerted authorities, but regrettably, they arrived too late to prevent the tragic outcome.

A Facebook spokesperson conveyed their condolences, emphasizing, “This is a horrific incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family. Content of this nature has no place on Facebook and has been removed.”

In Thailand, concerns about the use of Facebook Live emerged in 2016 when local media utilized the platform to broadcast a live feed of a university lecturer wanted in connection with the deaths of two colleagues. After a chilling six-hour standoff with the police, he tragically took his own life on camera.
