Firefighters were engaged in combatting a massive fire during the early hours of Saturday as flames ripped through the upper levels of a high-rise residential building in New York City.
The fire, escalating to a four-alarm incident, erupted just after midnight in the Bronx, swiftly spreading throughout multiple apartments within the 17-story structure, as confirmed by the New York City Fire Department.
Over 200 firefighters and emergency responders rushed to the location, where thick smoke billowed from the edifice and the night sky illuminated with flames.
Startling videos circulated on social media displayed the fire consuming sections of the higher floors, accompanied by large columns of smoke ascending above the tower.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and it remains too premature to ascertain if there have been any casualties.
Emergency services persevered at the site, endeavoring to quell the blaze and ensure the building’s safety.
