Microsoft has unveiled the job categories most susceptible to replacement by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Among these are interpreters, translators, historians, sales representatives, and telemarketers. Conversely, some professions less likely to be automated by AI include rail-track laying and maintenance equipment operators, surgical assistants, massage therapists, and dishwashers.
Kiran Tomlinson, a senior researcher at Microsoft, discussed the study’s findings, emphasizing that AI chatbots can enhance productivity in certain job categories without entirely replacing human workers. The research indicates that while AI can support tasks related to research, writing, and communication, it cannot completely replicate any single occupation. Tomlinson highlighted the importance of ongoing research to understand the societal and economic implications of AI adoption.
A recent survey by Acas revealed concerns among workers regarding AI. Approximately 26% of respondents expressed fears of job displacement due to AI, while 17% worried about potential errors. Additionally, 15% cited concerns about inadequate regulation, 5% about environmental impacts, and 11% about data security.
