Canada’s national police force disclosed on Monday the apprehension of a 51-year-old individual for purportedly issuing threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney. Marc-André Porlier, hailing from Montreal, faced accusations of making threats to cause harm or death, as stated in an RCMP press release. The alleged threats were conveyed via email to various undisclosed recipients, which included a senator, as outlined in the official statement by the police. The accused individual also purportedly menaced “all Canadian police officers,” as indicated in the legal document.

It was confirmed by the police that Porlier was previously convicted of arson and vandalism for setting a church ablaze in Toronto back in 2017, as reported by CBC News. Subsequently, he was serving a probationary period for these offenses, according to an RCMP representative. Porlier made a court appearance on Saturday, as mentioned in the press release. It should be noted that the charges laid against him are yet to be substantiated in court.
