After being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, the Montreal Roses took action by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The decision was announced by the club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, who expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for his role in establishing the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of such a decision, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh approach to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and future growth. Currently occupying the second position in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 regular season matches left to play.
Robert Rositoiu was appointed as head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. Maryse Bard-Martel has been appointed as the interim head coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel, who previously served as the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
