Morrisons has reduced the price of 1L Baileys to £11 in anticipation of the holiday season. Usually priced at £14, this promotion offers a £3 discount. The offer is valid until Sunday, November 2 in England and Wales, and no loyalty card is required to benefit from the reduced price.
Comparatively, the same 1L Baileys bottle is currently priced at £13.98 in Asda, £22 (£14 with a Nectar card) in Sainsbury’s, and £22.50 (£14 with a Clubcard) in Tesco. Last year, Morrisons discounted Baileys to £8.50, but customers had to spend £45 and be a Morrisons More member to access the deal.
In a strategic move, Morrisons is converting numerous corner shops into its branded convenience stores. The supermarket plans to introduce 250 new Morrisons Daily convenience stores next year through a franchise model, primarily targeting areas where Morrisons has limited presence.
This expansion signifies an acceleration of Morrisons’ growth plans, with approximately 160 convenience stores set to open this year. A Morrisons spokesperson emphasized the company’s ambition to reach more customers across the UK efficiently through the franchise model.
Meanwhile, Morrisons is streamlining its operations by closing 103 stores, cafes, florists, and pharmacies this year. This restructuring includes shutting down Morrisons Daily convenience stores, cafes, florists, pharmacies, Market Kitchens, meat counters, and fish counters that were deemed not cost-effective.
Rami Baitiéh, Chief Executive of Morrisons, acknowledged the impact these changes may have on employees, stating that the company plans to collaborate with third parties to offer specialized services in affected stores.
