Households owning a Netflix subscription could face fines of up to £1,000 for non-compliance with a straightforward UK regulation. The guidelines concerning TV streaming are explicit. While indulging in a binge-watching session or movie marathon through online platforms like Netflix, a TV Licence is not required. However, the scenario changes the moment live content is accessed, a common occurrence during weekends.

Renowned boxer Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring on Saturday, April 11, for a showdown against Arslanbek Makhmudov, which will be live-streamed on the Netflix service.

For Netflix subscribers, there is no additional charge to witness the event at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Nonetheless, viewers are cautioned when tuning in.

“If you are watching a live TV programme on Netflix, you must possess a valid TV Licence,” stated the TV Licensing team.

“Watching on-demand content on Netflix does not necessitate a TV Licence.”

Tyson Fury has emerged from retirement to confront Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov in a heavyweight bout scheduled for London on April 11. The match will be live-streamed on Netflix, accessible to fans through Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle or £24 Ultimate TV bundle, the latter including HBO Max and Disney+.

This warning should not be disregarded, as individuals caught violating the regulations may face substantial financial penalties.

“Prosecution may follow if illegal viewing, recording, or downloading of programs is discovered. The maximum penalty is a £1,000 fine plus potential legal expenses and compensation,” as highlighted by the authorities.

Therefore, for those planning to enjoy the anticipated fight on Netflix, ensuring compliance with fees and regulations is advisable.

As a reminder, a standard TV Licence is priced at £180, while a black and white licence costs £60.50.
