Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that resulted in serious injuries to a player from the Winnipeg Sea Bears. Teddy Allen was taken to the hospital after being attacked at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team.
The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the establishment have been taken into custody and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They were subsequently released under undertakings, according to a police news release issued on Thursday. Although authorities did not disclose the specific nightclub, it was located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
In a statement released by the team on Thursday, Allen mentioned that he has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recovering at home. He expressed that the assault was unwarranted and should not have occurred under any circumstances, emphasizing his resilience in overcoming challenges.
