The latest data from UK regulator Ofcom reveals varying performance among major broadband providers in the UK. TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE ranked poorly with the highest number of customer complaints, below the national average.
Ofcom’s update highlighted that EE, TalkTalk, and Vodafone saw an increase in complaints, contrasting Plusnet’s top position with the fewest complaints. Although both Plusnet and EE are under BT’s ownership, their complaint records differ significantly.
Sky secured the second spot for the least number of issues, followed by Virgin Media, which notably improved from its previous standing. The rankings for broadband complaints per 100,000 customers were as follows: Plusnet with 4, Sky with 6, and Virgin Media with 7.
In the landline services category, Utility Warehouse led with only 1 complaint per 100,000, while Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone also performed well. On the other hand, TalkTalk lagged in this area with 8 complaints per 100,000.
In the realm of TV services, TalkTalk received the least complaints at 2 per 100,000, followed by Sky with 3, and Virgin Media with 5. EE trailed slightly with 6 complaints per 100,000.
Despite stable complaint levels in broadband, landline, mobile, and pay-TV services, there has been no significant improvement according to the latest Ofcom figures. Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at uswitch.com, noted the industry’s lack of progress and emphasized the importance of evaluating service quality as prices rise.
Plusnet’s exceptional performance in customer service was highlighted, underscoring the need for consumers to explore better value options as annual price adjustments approach in April. Comparing deals to ensure satisfactory service delivery amid increasing costs is advised.
