PayPal is set to introduce its inaugural debit and credit card offerings, along with a fresh loyalty program. These new cards will be available in both physical and digital forms, enabling users to utilize their PayPal wallet for in-store transactions for the first time.
The new PayPal debit card will be directly linked to the user’s PayPal wallet and one of their bank accounts. In case the PayPal wallet is short of funds, the card will debit the necessary amount from the connected bank account. PayPal ensures that the debit card can be used globally without incurring any transaction fees, while the credit card is accepted wherever Mastercard is.
Simultaneously, PayPal is launching a new loyalty initiative where customers can earn points for purchases made online and in physical stores. Participants will earn one point for every £10 spent, with the opportunity to redeem £10 back at 1,000 points. Moreover, users will receive ten points for every £10 spent using the PayPal debit card.
The loyalty program includes three tiers: Blue, Gold, and Black. Gold and Black tier members will receive points valued up to 50% more at checkout, as well as access to exclusive VIP experiences and additional benefits. Additionally, the scheme is compatible with other loyalty programs, allowing users to accumulate and combine points from various sources. Signing up for PayPal+ and participating in the loyalty program is free of charge.
